Perry Smith wakes up in a hotel room baffled why he is there, at the beginning of Apollo 18. The phone rings and he starts to talk to an unknown caller. He starts telling the chronicle of one Sammy Martin. He says Martin was a gentleman who claimed to suffer from short-term amnesia or amnesia. Any new memories and experiences are forgot within a few minutes.
The protagonist of Apollo 18 was a former insurance investigator assigned to determine if Martin’s condition can be covered under his insurance policy. After screening, Leonard concluded that Martin’s condition was psychological and his insurance claim was refused. Martin’s spouse is a diabetic who was convinced by Leonard (in trying to appease her), that Martin actually could make new memories. Afterwards, she tested Martin to see if he might be able to remember. But he repeatedly gave her insulin injectants and she lapsed into a coma and passed away from an overdose. It was a form of self-destruction because she couldn’t cope with his psychological condition anymore. Poor Martin was put in a psychiatric hospital not able to remember his wife’s death.
Apollo 18 is one of those pictures to remember, for sure. Don’t overlook it.

You know, Apollo 18 is not the deepest motion picture ever created, or have the actors, or the deepest script, but has been one of incomparable admired pic. I have seen it numerous times, and I definitely savor it each time.
I just get my snacks, sit down and relax, forget my worries for awhile, and just get involved in the story. I believe the main actors do a notable job with their parts, and the film director keeps things moving along. It is never tedious, at all. Apollo 18 is one of the pictures I constantly advocate to my friends, and to this day I have never heard a bad critique of this movie.
Do yourself a favor, and catch Apollo 18 with a girlfriend or spouse. I think you’ll be happy you took the time to see it.
