Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.
Lots of twists and turns in this surprising comedy. At first you’ll think you know what’s going to happen — but wait, and watch the movie to the very end, including the credits. Several in this extraordinary cast (perhaps especially Jennifer Aniston) step outside their “comfort zone” and display aspects of their personalities and acting skills that may surprise you. I find it difficult to impossible to say which actor is “best” only because so many of them are extremely good.
The “R” rating for this movie is for real, and is about the language in particular (when you have a character whose very name can’t be mentioned in the trailers and reviews you know you’re in that territory). Many qualities of this movie (including the screenplay, the directing and editing, and the superb original score) had to come together for it to be as good as it is — and they do.
I treasured watching Horrible Bosses. I probably could view it over and over and never ever not enjoy it. The protagonists are very lifelike and appear very human and yet sympathetic.

In Horrible Bosses in southwestern New Mexico during the winding down days of the old frontier towns, five triggermen three wearing long duster overcoats take over a remote depot and settle down to wait for the stage coach. When that at long last arrives, a nameless stranger gets down and asks for someone named Frank. The gunslingers tell the guy Frank sent them in his place. In the succeeding gun fight, all the gunslingers are shot. Only the man from the stage in Horrible Bosses gets up again.
The Horrible Bosses soundtrack to the opening scene is a inventive compilation of routine auditory sensations in the style ofJohn Maylan. The composer uses nondescript sounds, to emphasize the tedium of waiting for the stage coach. The lean dialog allows for the soundtrack to take much more of our attention span than a score usually does.
