The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Helen Mirren) and Stefan (Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds). You know, The Debt is not actually the deepest picture ever filmed, or have the players, or the most smashing storyline, but has always been one of my unmatched favored flicks. I have seen it numerous times, and I always enjoy it {every time.
I just get the snacks ready, sit back, blank out my concerns for some time, and just get lost in the story. I reckon the main players do a exemplary job with their roles, and the director keeps everything moving along. It is never ponderous, by any means. The Debt is one of the motion pictures I definitely recommend to my girl friends, and to this day I haven’t heard a bad assessment of it.
Give yourself a treat, and view The Debt with a friend or spouse. You’ll both be happy you took the time to see it.

wakes up in a hotel suite confused why he is in that location, at the beginning of The Debt. The phone rings and he starts to talk to an unnamed caller. He commences telling the narrative of one Sammy Martin. He says Martin was a man who claimed to short-term memory loss or amnesia. Any brand-new memories and experiences are buried within a few minutes.
The protagonist of The Debt was a former insurance investigator assigned to ascertain if Martin’s condition will be compensated under his insurance policy. After testing, Leonard reasoned that Martin’s circumstance was psychogenic and his insurance claim was denied. Martin’s wife is a diabetic who was assured by Leonard (in trying to assuage her), that Martin indeed could make brand-new memories. Later, she tested Martin to see if he would be able to remember. But he over and over gave her insulin injectants and she lapsed into a coma and perished from the over dose. It was a form of self-annihilation because she could not deal with his condition anymore. Poor Martin was locked in a mental institution not even able to recall his wife’s death.
The Debt is one of those movies to recall, for sure. Don’t miss it.
