Paul Kemp is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. My boyfriend and I didn’t appreciate The Rum Diary. Not horrendous but not good either.

John Martin wakes up in a hotel room questioning why he is there, at the beginning of The Rum Diary. The phone rings and he starts to talk to an unnamed caller. He commences telling the story of one Sammy Martin. He says Martin was a man who claimed to short-term amnesia or amnesia. Any new memories and experiences are forgot within a few minutes.
The protagonist of The Rum Diary was a former insurance investigator assigned to decide if Martin’s condition would be compensated under his insurance policy. After examining him, Leonard reasoned that Martin’s circumstance was psychogenic and his insurance claim was denied. Martin’s wife is a diabetic who was assured by Leonard (in trying to assuage her), that Martin really could make fresh memories. Afterwards, she tested Martin to see if he would be able to remember. But he repeatedly gave her insulin injectants and she slipped into a comatose state and passed away from overdose. It was a form of suicide because she didn’t want to cope with his condition anymore. Poor Martin was confined to a mental hospital not even able to recollect his wife’s death.
The Rum Diary is one of those movies to recollect, for sure. Don’t overlook it.
I adored viewing The Rum Diary. I could see it over and over and never ever tire of it. The characters are very sincere and look really human and still sympathetic.

The first half of The Rum Diary some may find more than a little slow. After awhile the movie starts to get more interesting and I commenced getting more curious. I should recommend that you bewilling and able to remember it does really get much improved.
